Welcome to the research homepage of Chris Lai!

Here you will find my current and past research projects on various topics in environmental fluid mechanics and fluid turbulence.

The facing picture was taken during a field campaign in summer 2010 at the Big Wave Bay beach in Hong Kong. The strong wave-breaking events generate intense turbulence in the water column that greatly influences the transport of solutes and pollutants (e.g. bacteria) in the nearshore.

[7/3/2019] – Our paper on non-classical behaviors of weak bubble plumes appears in Journal of Fluid Mechanics!
